Little Free Libraries for Sickle Cell Awareness
GRAAHI’s Sickle Cell Little Libraries initiative brings age-appropriate books and educational resources directly into the community. Created in partnership with the City of Grand Rapids Parks and Recreation Department, the program places book stations in Martin Luther King Park, Garfield Park and Ken-O-Sha Park.
Through accessible materials and family reading events, the initiative helps children understand sickle cell disease, ask thoughtful questions and develop greater health literacy and empathy for people living with the condition. Community readings will continue at Garfield Park through October, followed by winter sessions at HUB 07.
Join us for reading events:
- September 28 – 6 to 6:30 pm Garfield Park
- November 16 and December 7 – 6 to 6:30 pm Hub O7
