PMOS

Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS)
  • What it is: PMOS is the updated name for Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), established through an international medical consensus.
  • Why the name changed: Experts updated the name to remove the misleading focus on ovarian “cysts” and better reflect the condition’s wide impact on hormones, metabolism, and the reproductive system. You can review the clinical criteria at the Mayo Clinic.
  • Common symptoms: Irregular periods, insulin resistance, difficulty losing weight, acne, and excess body hair (hirsutism). [1, 2, 3, 4]
