Women's Health

Women’s health is essential to the well-being of families and communities. Our programs provide support, education, and resources designed to help Black women care for their physical, emotional, and maternal health with confidence and culturally aligned guidance.

We promote women’s health through community-based education, maternal health support, prevention strategies, and resources that address the unique challenges Black women face in navigating the healthcare system. Whether you’re seeking wellness support, maternal care, or health education, we’re here to help you take the next step.

FlourishHer

A Journey to Health and Wellness

FlourishHer is a quarterly wellness initiative designed to empower women through holistic, culturally aligned health education. The program supports total well-being—mind, body, and soul—through workshops on mental health, cancer awareness, chronic disease prevention, and stress management.

FlourishHer provides accessible screenings and resources through community partnerships, mobile units, and local organizations, ensuring that all women, regardless of insurance status, documentation, or financial barriers can access the care and support they deserve.

Low Income Resources with BC3NP

The Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Navigation Program (BC3NP) provides low-income women access to breast and cervical cancer screening services (mammograms and Pap tests) and follow-up care if needed. The program does not pay for cancer treatment, but women may be eligible for a special Medicaid program through BC3NP that will cover cancer treatment.

More than 75 diagnostic services are provided free of cost and multiple screening services like pap smears, screening mammograms, and MRIs.

Breast Health and the Risk Factors for Women

Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women, and while anyone can develop it, Black women have a higher risk of dying from the disease despite a slightly lower diagnosis rate. Early detection is crucial for improving survival rates, with mammograms being the most effective screening method.

If you’re a woman, especially a woman of color, it’s important to talk to your doctor about your individual risk factors and develop a breast screening plan that’s right for you. Remember, early detection saves lives.
