“This is a time of uncertainty, yet, there is certainty of growth within myself. Many nights in my dorm are spent dwelling in the future, praying that God will make ends meet. To say that the Emerging Leaders Scholarship was a blessing to me is an understatement. I like to believe that when blessings fall into place like this, I am walking on the path that was meant for me, a path towards medical school and becoming an OBGYN.Â
My career goal is to transform women’s healthcare. I will strive to be a physician who advocates with empathy, respect, and intentionality. Too often, women from marginalized communities go unseen, unheard, and undeserved in the birthing space. My goal is to challenge the reality of health disparities in the healthcare system an ensure that every woman feels safe, seen, and supported throughout her care. This scholarship has empowered me to continue on this path with confidence. My goals are not only possible, they are necessary.“
